Elan Hekier, MD

Elan Hekier is a practicing Pulmonary and Critical Care physician.  He sees patients with everything from asthma to vaping induced lung injury, sleep disorders to mycobacterial infections and everything in between.  Elan serves as the Chief Medical Informatics and Innovation Officer at Sharp Rees-Stealy, trying to improve the EHR experience.

Originally from Los Angeles, he attended UCLA and majored in Biochemistry with a minor in Philosophy.  After completing medical school at Tufts in Boston, he moved to San Diego.  There, he completed his training in Internal Medicine at Scripps Mercy and his Fellowship at UCSD.  During his chief medical resident year, he worked on developing a comprehensive teaching curriculum for trainees in the intensive care unit.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 kids, especially if it involves volleyball or watersports.  He enjoys teaching, learning, and travel.  Sometimes getting to do all three at once.
