Louis Lteif is a Senior Clinical Pharmacy Specialist functioning as the System Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) Pharmacist at Sharp HealthCare since July 2019.

Louis matriculated with a Pharm.D. degree from the Lebanese American University and completed his general and specialty Infectious Diseases residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Sharp HealthCare Louis was a faculty member at the college of pharmacy at the University of Hawaii in Hilo for over 3 years. Louis is double board certified in pharmacotherapy as well as Infectious Diseases Pharmacy.

Louis has been practicing and teaching in the field of Infectious Diseases for the past 6 years. In addition to developing and expanding local stewardship programs at the institution level, Louis has collaborated with the Hawaii Department of Health to lead and advise the state-wide Antimicrobial Stewardship Collaborative. The collaboration successfully helped over 50 acute care and 20 long term care institutions develop and sustain ASP programs. Louis has also trained and educated a multitude of students and residents and participated in many research projects pertaining to ASP.

One of Louis’ main duties at Sharp HealthCare is to co-chair the System Steering ASP committee which promotes and facilitates the judicious use of antimicrobials across the health system. This committee is also the expert panel that would provide education for staff, patient and leadership with topics pertaining to ASP and Infectious Diseases.
