Speakers will focus on teaching attendees how to develop and maintain a high reliability mindset.

Target Audience:  Sharp-affiliated physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other interested health care providers.

Objectives
Following this activity, attendees should be able to:
  1. State why the healthcare community needs to become a high readability organization (HRO)
  2. Recognize when we as individuals or team deviate from adaptive learning principles and the effects it has on us as individuals and the larger healthcare team
  3. Discuss methods to engage and empower patients and their family to take an active role in their healthcare experience
  4. Identify the main focus for leaders in creating and sustaining cultural change
  5. Celebrate our progress toward a high reliability mindset and commit to changes that will become our story
  6. List objective criteria that helps detect early patient deterioration
  7. Describe the standardized response with escalation of expertise at the bedside
  8. Discuss how to evaluate the effectiveness of a bedside early warning response program
  9. Describe how to respond to patients and/or their family after something goes wrong
  10. Describe the steps necessary to maximize synergy and establish a shared organizational vision for reliability
  11. Explain the difference between philosophy, strategy and tactics in fostering a patient-centric culture
