Celebrating 15 years, this year’s conference will focus on the educational needs of primary care physicians, including family physicians, internists and any others interested in learning about the latest developments in the field of primary care medicine. Topics will include cardiology, sports medicine, emergency medicine, social determinants, neurology, urology, infectious diseases and dermatology.


Objectives
Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Summarize evidence that suggests opportunities to improve common practices in the acute care setting
  2. Describe important management principles for common animal-related injuries including bites and envenomations
  3. Summarize current trends in alternative medicine
  4. Identify key history and physical exam findings for differentiating causes of foot pain
  5. Describe commonly missed orthopedic injuries in primary care
  6. Outline current research regarding Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) and its impact on youth tackle football
  7. Identify appropriate candidates for anticoagulation, ablation, or device therapy for Atrial fibrillation (A-Fib)
  8. Clarify the role of cardiac resynchronization therapy in patients with heart failure
  9. Describe social determinants of health and their impact on the quadruple aim by optimizing community partnerships and integrating social determinants into clinical workflows
  10. Evaluate headache prophylactic therapies and the latest treatments for migraine headaches
  11. Differentiate idiopathic Parkinson’s disease and the non-motor features, which may be Parkinson’s related, from other parkinsonian disorders
  12. Review the latest approaches to evaluation and management of common male urological conditions including erectile dysfunction (ED), testosterone replacement, Peyronie’s Disease, vasectomy, and prostate cancer
  13. Discuss the relationship between length of antibiotic therapy and the development of antibiotic resistance, including the risk of C. difficile
  14. Explain the medical and legal implication of the FDA black box warning on prescribing, specially the risk associated with fluoroquinolone use
  15. Review the latest therapeutic modalities for acne
  16. Examine the epidemiology of psoriasis and the link to cardiovascular disease, impact of biologics, and emerging therapies
  17. Evaluate educational needs of primary care providers

Accreditation

Accreditation: Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CME Credit: Sharp HealthCare designates this live activity for a maximum of 15.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 15.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.  Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.  It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Call Peak Travel at 1-800-366-0455 to book your hotel reservations.  Peak Travel’s office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. PST.  The conference rate at the Fairmont Orchid Hawaii is $199 plus tax per night for Garden View room (standard room), $219 plus tax per night for Partial Ocean View rooms, or $239 plus tax per night for Ocean View rooms, single or double occupancy.

Please note each extra person sharing a room will be charged an additional $75.00 plus tax per night, beginning with the third adult.  There will be no charge for children under the age of 18 years sharing the same room with their parents and utilizing existing bedding.  Maximum occupancy is four (4) adults or two (2) adults and two (2) children per room.  A $75.00 per rollaway fee applies.  This fee will be waived if guest is paying additional for the third and fourth adult.  The maximum number of rollaway per room or suite is one (1) Rooms with 2 queen beds are unable to accommodate a rollaway. 

Self-parking is complimentary; overnight valet parking is $10 per car, per night.

Resort Charge WAIVED

The Resort Charge of $30.00 per room per night plus tax has been waived for the group and you will receive all of the amenities. The following amenities are bundled into this charge:

  • Unlimited basic internet access in guest rooms and resort public areas - wireless & wired (Fairmont's President's Club Members receive an upgrade to premium speed internet access).
  • Self-parking for one vehicle per room (Fairmont Gold guests receive valet parking for one vehicle per room).
