Overview

The 14th annual Sharp HealthCare's Primary Care Conference, Aloha from Maui will be held at the Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort.  The conference will focus on the educational needs of primary care physicians, including family physicians, internists and any others interested in learning about the latest developments in the field of primary care medicine.

Objectives
    Following this conference, attendees should be able to:
  1. Identify misleading or misinterpreted information found in the medical literature
  2. Describe the latest approaches to managing heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux
  3. Discuss the evaluation and management of common causes of red eyes
  4. Identify common ophthalmologic emergencies
  5. Identify strategies to facilitate improved care for patients with bipolar disorder
  6. Summarize effective strategies for managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  7. List at least three opportunities to improve care for the frail elderly patient
  8. Review key studies published in the last year that will impact clinical practice
  9. Explore opportunities for shifting from a disease-focused model of health care to one of patient empowerment
  10. Employ GOLD guidelines for improved management of obstructive lung disease patients
  11. Summarize the role of alternative therapies for managing obstructive sleep apnea
  12. Outline effective treatment approaches for refractory hypertension
  13. Illustrate the clinical importance of an elevated UACR as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and the progression of chronic kidney disease
  14. Identify effective strategies for improving diabetes management to prevent complications

Accreditation

Accreditation: Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CME Credit: Sharp HealthCare designates this live activity for a maximum of 14.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 14.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.  Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.  It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
