Overview
This educational activity will present cardiac guidelines and directed management relevant for physicians and other healthcare providers.

Objectives
Following the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the history of hypertension
  2. Discuss masked hypertension and white coat syndrome
  3. Delineate the optimal BP target to lower cardiovascular event rates
  4. List drugs appropriate for treating hypertension
  5. Assess the impact of non-pharmacologic therapy on blood pressure
  6. Discuss when initiating 2 drugs is better than 1

Accreditation

Accreditation:  Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Nurse Credit:  The California Board of Registered Nursing recognizes the use of Category 1 Continuing Medical Education credit toward credit contact hours.  1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 credit = 1.00 contact hour(s). Report "ACCME Category 1 Credit" as BRN number.  No BRN slip will be given.  Participants must attend the entire conference to receive continuing education credits.

ABIM MOC Credit:  Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

American Board of Surgery (ABS): Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirement(s) of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
