Celebrating 18 years, this year’s conference will focus on the educational needs of primary care physicians, including family physicians, internists and any others interested in learning about the latest developments in the field of primary care medicine.

1. Discuss the importance and timeliness of lifestyle medicine
2. Discuss various lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic
3. Discuss effective communication strategies to boost confidence in vaccines and address vaccine hesitancy
4. Discuss various elements needed for a robust biopreparedness program in healthcare
5. Review the physiology of the newer diets that require fasting
6. Differentiate between detection and removal of adenomatous colon polyps
7. Assess AASLD guidelines on viral hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis and reproductive health, and chronic liver disease
8. Diagnose and manage various forms of Eczematous Dermatitis
9. Diagnose and manage Alopecia Areata, Tinea Capitis, Telogen Effluvium, and Androgenetic Alopecia
10. Discuss new modes of intervention for COPD
11. Identify the systemic origin of venous thrombosis causing respiratory symptoms and cardiovascular collapse
12. Manage patients with migraine in the primary care setting
13. Initiate appropriate therapeutic management of a patient with dizziness
14. Discuss how poor sleep increases the risk of dementia
15. Discuss the most common types of head and neck cancer
16. Advocate for public health initiatives
17. Initiate appropriate therapeutic management of a patient with dizziness

Accreditation:  Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CME Credit:  Sharp HealthCare designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 15.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

PA Credit:  PAs may claim a maximum of 15.25 Category 1 credits for completing this activity. NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society.

NP Credit:  AANPCB accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits issued by organizations accredited by ACCME as an equivalent number of hours of participation. 15.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credit = 15.25 contact hours. 

ABIM MOC Credit:  Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 15.25 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.

Cultural & Linguistic Competency: This activity is in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1195 which requires that all CME activities comprising a patient care element include curriculum addressing the topic of cultural and linguistic competency.  The intent of this bill is to ensure that health care professionals are able to meet the cultural and linguistic concerns of a diverse patient population through effective and appropriate professional development.  Cultural and linguistic competency was incorporated into the planning of this activity.

Direct Travel’s office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. PST. The conference rate at the Fairmont Orchid is $299.00 per night for a Garden view room (standard room) or $399.00 per night for Run of Ocean View rooms (Partial ocean view or Ocean view will be assigned upon check-in).  The rates are subject to 17.962% tax and $10.00 taxable Daily Resort Fee and valid for single or double occupancy. Please note there will be an additional charge of $75 per person plus tax per night for more than 2 adults in any room, with a maximum of 4 persons per room. No charge for children 17 years of age and younger staying in the same room with parents utilizing existing bedding.  Overnight self-parking for one vehicle & basic WIFI access are included in the resort fee.
