SHC Motivational Interviewing 2024

When a patient lacks the motivation to change, do you at times feel frustrated or ineffective? This training is designed to help clinicians acquire the foundational skills of Motivational Interviewing, which is proven to effectively address ambivalence & facilitate change!

1. Describe the perspective of the Spirit of MI
2. Explain the roles of ambivalence, sustain talk, and change talk in promoting an individual's motivation for change
3. Outline how to use OARS to strengthen an individual's motivation for change

Cultural & Linguistic Competency and Implicit Bias Standards: This activity is in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1195 which requires that all CME activities comprising a patient care element include curriculum addressing the topic of cultural and linguistic competency, in conjunction with California Senate Bill 923 gender-affirming care, and in compliance with California Assembly Bill 241 which requires that all CME activities incorporate educational components to address factors identified as impacting the provider’s patient populations and disparities potentially caused and exacerbated.
