SHC Infectious Disease Symposium 2025

The goals of this symposium are to highlight contemporary topics relevant to the current practice of infectious diseases. The clinical practice of infectious diseases requires the translation of data into information by experts well-versed in-patient management. We have a small cadre of experts who have experience in the topics of their presentation.

1. Discuss the nuances of managing MRSA bloodstream infections.
2. Recall therapy of infections causes by non-fermenting multi-drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria such as Stenotrophomonas and Acinetobacter
3. Review new therapies in treating tuberculosis in the context of rising cases in San Diego County
4. Discuss incorporating cell-free DNA metagenomic sequencing in the diagnostic aspects of infection

Accreditation:  Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Cultural & Linguistic Competency and Implicit Bias Standards: This activity is in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1195 which requires that all CME activities comprising a patient care element include curriculum addressing the topic of cultural and linguistic competency, in conjunction with California Senate Bill 923 gender-affirming care, and in compliance with California Assembly Bill 241 which requires that all CME activities incorporate educational components to address factors identified as impacting the provider’s patient populations and disparities potentially caused and exacerbated.
