Overview
Intended to ensure surgeons are cognizant of strategies to reduce the risk of HAIs, compliance with legislative requirement, and The Joint Commission Requirements,

Objectives

Following the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Review strategies to decrease the acquisition of and the transmission of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs): hand hygiene and isolation precautions
  2. Outline evidence-based strategies to decrease the risk of device-associated infections (e.g. catheter-associated bloodstream infections and catheter-associated urinary tract infections) and surgical site infections
  3. Discuss the function and impact of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in controlling the emergence of MDROs and its close interaction with Infection Prevention

Accreditation

Accreditation: Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CME Credit: Sharp HealthCare designates this live activity for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurse Credit: The California Board of Registered Nursing recognizes the use of Category 1 Continuing Medical Education credit toward credit contact hours. Report “ACCME Category 1 Credit” as BRN number. No BRN slip will be given. Participants must attend the entire conference to receive continuing education credit.
