Overview

This is a 10 module series that introduces key concepts of the high-reliability organization (HRO) initiative under taken by Sharp HealthCare.  These modules present the key skills identified to help Sharp physicians minimize the opportunities for error in their clinical practices. Sharp HealthCare is committed to achieving zero defects and zero harm to employees, physicians, patients and their families.

Physicians have the option to complete these modules or participate in a HRO workshop.

Target audience: Sharp-affiliated physicians*

Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Define the role of safety and reliability in influencing our culture across Sharp HealthCare
  2. Describe our high reliability skills and behaviors
  3. Employ our high reliability skills and behaviors
  4. Commit to holding yourself and others accountable for using our high reliability skills and behaviors in our daily work

Accreditation

Accreditation:  Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CME Credit:  Sharp HealthCare designates this enduring material activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cultural & Linguistic Competency: This activity is in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1195 which requires that all CME activities comprising a patient care element include curriculum addressing the topic of cultural and linguistic competency.  The intent of this bill is to ensure that health care professionals are able to meet the cultural and linguistic concerns of a diverse patient population through effective and appropriate professional development.  Cultural and linguistic competency was incorporated into the planning of this activity.
