Overview
This module is created in part to satisfy the requirements of Senate Bill 464 which requires health care organizations to implement an evidence-based implicit bias curriculum to all inpatient health care providers in perinatal care.

Objectives
Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Define identity
  2. Identify where power dynamics exist
  3. Discuss social determinants of health
  4. Describe the effects of oppression on minority communities
  5. Define implicit bias, then apply corrective measures to decrease its affects
  6. Identify unconscious biases
  7. Discuss barriers to inclusion
  8. Define 3 types of racism
  9. Employ individual and organizational changes to address unconscious bias
  10. Discuss perinatal health inequities and maternal and infant health outcomes
