Overview

Introduces learner to basic concepts of Lean Six Sigma (LSS).  Specific areas of emphasis include an introduction to continuous process improvement and the lean six sigma belt designation program, analyzing waste, daily problem-solving steps (A3 process) and facilitating efficient meetings.

Target audience:  Sharp-affiliated physicians.  All Sharp employees should complete the modules using Workday.

Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. List the learning opportunities for managing continuous improvement tools and methods
  2. Summarize the basic expectations for leaders and staff
  3. Differentiate between a White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt, and Black Belt
  4. Explain Sharp's strategy to facilitate continuous process improvement
  5. Identify the different types of waste
  6. Discuss the value in looking for waste
  7. Outline your role in a daily huddle
  8. Eliminate waste from your work
  9. Conduct basic daily problem-solving steps
  10. Document your working using the A3 format
  11. Report and resolve issues encountered in your work area
  12. Utilize a community approach to problem-solving
  13. List the elements of a well-planned meeting
  14. Employ tools that will help make efficient use of time
  15. Solicit ideas and organize them with a group
  16. Determine appropriate decision-making processes

Accreditation:  Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
