SHC Pharmacy Cultural Competency - Online

This course focuses on patients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender nonconforming, or queer, or who question their sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. As well as health disparities faced by Black, Indigenous, and people of color.

1. Define terms related to patients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender nonconforming, or queer, or who question their sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.
2. Identify how sexual identity is directly impacted through intersectionality.
3. List health disparities faced by Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
4. Describe how Epic addresses Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) and Organ Inventory with Clinical Decision Support.

Cultural & Linguistic Competency and Implicit Bias Standards: This activity is in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1195 which requires that all CME activities comprising a patient care element include curriculum addressing the topic of cultural and linguistic competency, in conjunction with California Senate Bill 923 gender-affirming care, and in compliance with California Assembly Bill 241 which requires that all CME activities incorporate educational components to address factors identified as impacting the provider’s patient populations and disparities potentially caused and exacerbated.
